Partnering for Safe Evacuations Amid the Advancing Frontline
On August 19, the authorities of Pokrovska hromada in Donetsk region, where we have been distributing monthly food rations from the World Food Programme since January 2024, announced a mandatory evacuation for families with children. According to the official registry, this affects approximately 4,000 children still residing within the hromada's territory.
This announcement follows similar directives in other hromadas, most notably Novohrodivska, Myrnohradska, and Kurakhivska.
As the Russian army's advance escalates in Pokrovsk district, which encompasses 14 hromadas, the number of evacuations to safer regions has increased significantly. Dnipro, where our shelter for internally displaced persons is located, has become one of the largest evacuation hubs in Eastern Ukraine. Each month, our shelter welcomes dozens of evacuees. Many are brought to us by partners like Denys Khrystov, who in July alone facilitated the safe relocation of 18 evacuees from frontline areas to our shelter for temporary housing.
As the frontline moves closer, we are strengthening our cooperation with evacuation missions and are prepared to welcome more evacuees. To submit a request for evacuation, please call our hotline at 0 689 800 709. For instructions on how to reach our shelter, contact Volodymyr at 0 95 845 17 25.
We are committed to supporting those in need, offering a safe haven during these challenging times.
